The University of Engineering & Technology, Lahore offers about a total of 975 seats per yearly session for all the categories , out of which a total of about 750 seats are for open merit Punjab Domicile Category 'A'.
The Seats allocation as described by the University for the session 2001, for 'A' category & other important categories for different technologies are as follows:( these categories are explained below)

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:-
The Important points required for a candidate to be eligible for applying for a seat in the University are as follows:-
1. The Candidate should have passed the Intermediate (Pre-Engineering) Examination with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics from a Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education of Pakistan or an equivalent Examination recognized by the University.
2. The Candidates applying for Bachelor of Science reserved seats, the candidate must have passed his/her Intermediate examination in Pre-Engineering Subjects and his B.Sc. from a recognized University in preferably Physics & Chemistry or Physics & Mathematics.....Physics and Mathematics being the most important Subjects.
3. For the candidates applying for Bachelors in Computer Science should have passed the Intermediate Examination with Physics and Mathematics Only.
4. The Candidates must at least get 50% marks according to the eligibility/merit formula to apply for the final admissions.
5. For Diploma holders the candidate must have passed the diploma Examination of a Recognized Board of Technical Education in the relevant technology.
ADMISSION PROCEDURES:-
The Admission procedure for the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore B.Sc. classes is explained in the following points :-
1. The admission for a particular year is advertised by the University Admissions Department in the press/media.
2. The Interested candidates can get the Application form along with Admission guide from the University Administration Block or by mail, for Rupees as prescribed by the University.
3. On receipt of duly filled Application form within the given period of about 15 - 20 days, the University shall issue Roll Number/Entry Test Card to each candidate for written test, on the given date & to be held in the University premises.
4. Written test results shall be posted to the candidates after 7 - 10 days of the written test, Candidates securing at least 50% marks according to the eligibility formula shall be clear to apply for final admissions.
5. The successful candidates will be issued along with the prospectus , form F-1 for Rupees 250/- , which will be submitted within the given period of about 15-20 days ,duly supported by the copies of Certificates/Degrees, I.D. Card, Domicile & NCC Certificate etc..
6. Merit will be made for each candidate according to the eligibility Formula as setup by the University, The candidates will be awarded the Disciplines of their choices according to their final merit, displayed in the University & also sent by post.
7. The finally selected candidates will be required to submit their complete dues by the given date and get their Department's Registration Receipt from the Admin. Block, the candidate who fails to do so within the given date his/her admission will be automatically cancelled.
8. The classes start from the 1st of January.

"THE MERIT & ELIGIBILITY FORMULA":-
The Final Merit Formula or the Eligibility formula, according to which final selection of candidates & their assigned departments is made is as follows (as prescribed by the University for the session 2000):-
a) For Candidates with Intermediate (Pre-Engineering) Certificate:-
A = (Marks in F.Sc. + NCC + Hafiz) x 70

b) For Candidates with Intermediate & B.Sc. Certificate/Degree( B.Sc. Reserved Seats):-
A = (Marks in F.Sc. + NCC + Hafiz) x 35

A + B + C = 50% ( eligible to apply)
Hafiz-e-Quran = 20 Marks.
NCC = 20 Marks.
These marks are only for the ones who have completed these courses successfully, for Hafiz the University will conduct an interview with the candidates to verify his/her qualification.
DETAILS ABOUT THE WRITTEN TEST:-
The Important Details about the written test are as follows :-
1. The test will be of 100 marks, it will be of objective type with allowed duration of two hours, in the subjects of Physics, Mathematics & Chemistry or Computer Science (for candidates applying for admissions to B.Cs. )
2. All candidates applying under any category must sit for the test but the final selction for any seat will be made merit wise according to the eligibility formula.
