Faculty List Department Contacts Architecture Department, a complete world of art, crafts, design & style. The department was Established in 1962 as the the first ever of its kind in Pakistan.
CAPACITY, MERIT & ELIGIBILITY:- The Department has a total capacity of 44 seats per session out of which 32 seats are for Open Merit Punjab Domicile Category . Merit wise the department stands at 6 - 7th Position. Though Architecture is much related to the subjects of Science & Technology, but it remains a discipline of the arts. The Department thus seeks students who, in addition to a firm grounding in the sciences are creative, like to solve problems & have an aptitude for fine arts & design..Thus it is one of the few departments which apart from FSc & BSc. students also accepts candidates from the field of fine arts & design. COURSES:- The Architecture department is the only department in the UET, Lahore whose bachelor's degree course is of 5 Years Duration. In addition to the professional degree of B.Arch. , the department also offers graduate degree programs leading to M.Arch. , M.Phil & Ph.D. The Bachelors degree is fully accredited by Pakistan Council of Architects & Town Planners(PCATP) & Institute of Architects,Pakistan(IAP). The Master's degree program started in 1990 is offered in both one Year full time & Two Years part time courses. The M.Phil & Ph.D; courses are by research only.The Minimum duration of these programs is 2 years and 3 years respectively. LAB FACILITIES & PRACTICAL WORK:-
The Department has access to several Laboratories , which provide necessary facilities for undergraduate instruction & graduate & faculty research These facilities for practical/experimental training include the areas of: *** Building materials, Building Construction, Structural Design, Surveying & Levelling , environmental control within buildings, presentation and model making & computer aided design & drafting. In addition to the regular faculty the department also invites a number of prominent architects & other professionals from the field as visiting teachers, jurors and examiners. RESEARCH SERVICES:- A large number of the departments faculty is also involved in research. The Research fields include architectural heritage of Pakistan, conservation, energy studies, planning and design for disaster prone areas, housing & urban studies.
