The Department of City & Regional Planning, A world of Planners, Designers of Tomorrow . Established in 1962 it is the only department of its kind in Pakistan.

CAPACITY, MERIT & ELIGIBILITY:-

The CRP department presently has a total capacity of about 170-190 students.The total seats for the CRP department are 49 out which 35 seats are for Open merit Punjab Domicile Category.

Merit wise the department comes at 10 - 11th position.

The candidate applying for a seat in the CRP department must be either FSc. or BSc or a equivalent certificate holder as recognised by the University Admissions department.

COURSES:-

The CRP Department offers the following courses of study:

a) B.Sc. Degree in City & Regional Planning.(CRP)

b) M.Sc. Degree in CRP.

c) Ph.D. Degree in CRP.

The Bachelors Degree covers a Duration of 4 Years, The Masters Course has been developed with extensive help from the Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh, U.K. .Currently about 10 students are enrolled for the masters course each year. The M.Sc. CRP Course is of full one Year

For the Ph.D. Degree the department intends to register senior planners from the field and staff members holding post graduate qualifications & experience for undertaking advanced research on planning issues of national significance leading to Ph.D. Degree in CRP.

LAB FACILITIES & PRACTICAL WORK:-

The department has a very well stocked library with a wide range of book, journals etc. concerning CRP & its allied Subjects.

A post graduate research and reference section has been added to it with assistance from the British Government. It is also equipped with modern teaching and research facilities like:

*** Micro Computers, Scanner, Digitizer, Plotter, Laser Printers & Audio Visual Aids . An air conditioned noise and dust free laboratory has been set up to house the computer facilities.

The students are also provided opportunities to see planning projects of national importance , and discuss them with eminent professionals in the field.

RESEARCH & ADVISORY SERVICES:-

The Research projects of varying scope are undertaken by the faculty and post graduate students, as mentioned in the courses section, the research leads to Ph.D. Degree in CRP for the eligible students.

The department also takes measures to disseminate know- how beyond the four walls of the University and holds seminars & symposia for the purpose. It offers short - term courses for organizations which need exposure of their personnel to some aspects of planning. The faculty is sought by government and non-government organizations for consultancy & advisory services.
