INTRODUCTION:-

Recently, the University of Engineering Technology, Lahore got the honor of being the only technology institute in Punjab, N.W.F.P & Baluchistan to accommodate the only IT Center in these provinces, the one & only of its kind, it has added a new glory to the history of this prestigious institution.

The Information Technology Center was inaugurated in May 1999 by the former Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif..... therefore the IT Center is still under the process of complete setup, so far no regular classes have started, but they are expected to start from the year 2000, thus UET, Lahore will enter the next Millennium with the latest & the most wanted technology of the next century the Information Technology ( IT ) !!!!.

FACILITIES:-

The IT center has four IT laboratories and a library. All IT laboratories have internet facility. The Center has expansion capacity to add four more laboratories. The Information Technology Center is equipped with computers in the state of art Network environment. The University students & the staff shall have access to the required information for processing under the appropriate security system through the available Servers that are being linked using Fiber Optics Technology. This internet will also be extended to the UET Research center & other departments.

The total capacity of IT center, computer laboratories is about 170 Workstations.

COMPUTER SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT LABORATORY:-

Another addition to the UET campus along with the IT center, is the Computer Software development laboratory.....inaugurated with the IT Center, the Lab is one of the best of its kind in the country & the region.

The Laboratory accommodates a total of 120 computers at a time. The Lab has not started functioning properly as it is still under the complete establishment process, it is also expected to start functioning with full facilities from the year 2000, thus introducing UET, Lahore as the best Technology Institute in Pakistan and one of the best in asia , to the world in the new millennium.
