The department apart from teaching basic courses of Mathematics & Statistics to the under graduate engineering classes, also offers the courses to study leading to M.Sc., M.Phil. & Ph.D. degree in mathematics.

 

Curriculum:

The department started the post graduate classe in 1988. The M.Phil programme is a two year full-time course on term basis. During first two terms the students study theory courses & the 3rd. & 4th. terms are meant for research. The programme for part-time students extends over a period of 3 years.

The M.Sc. in Applied Mathematics is a two year full-time programme. During the first year the students have to study five compulsory courses. During the second year the students have a choice of five courses plus he/she will have to write a dissertation on a topic applied by the Board of Strides in Mathematics.
